A return expected by the fans
In May 2020, Blizzard canceled BlizzCon due to the threat of the coronavirus. The company adapted with a digital event in February 2021 called BlizzConline but months later it ruled out the possibility of returning to a physical event at the end of the year because the pandemic was not fully controlled.
The idea of a hybrid event in 2022, part face-to-face and digital, smaller, was also discarded. In this case, the aim was to transform the event, especially after the scandals of harassment and sexual discrimination in the developer.
