“After four years of online encounters venturing across Azeroth, teaming up in Overwatch, traversing the fields of Sanctuary or snuggling up to the fire in the tavern, the time has finally come to meet in person once more. We’re excited to announce that BlizzCon will return to the Anaheim Convention Center on November 3 and 4!” says the team. Details of the schedule, tickets, cosplay competitions, and more will be revealed next month.
“Our players are at the core of what makes BlizzCon great, a place where gaming is the common ground for connection and friendship. Whether you’re here to hang out with friends you only see online, celebrate moments peaks in the games we love or explore what we have in the halls of the convention center, like if you’re dying to know what’s in store for our universes, BlizzCon was made for you. It’s the community that has always made this event is so special and we look forward to seeing you all again”.
A return expected by the fans
In May 2020, Blizzard canceled BlizzCon due to the threat of the coronavirus. The company adapted with a digital event in February 2021 called BlizzConline but months later it ruled out the possibility of returning to a physical event at the end of the year because the pandemic was not fully controlled.
The idea of a hybrid event in 2022, part face-to-face and digital, smaller, was also discarded. In this case, the aim was to transform the event, especially after the scandals of harassment and sexual discrimination in the developer.
