The Hardcore-Modus is simply a must for many fans of the series, as it awaits brave players with its very special appeal: being able to play a character only until you die with it for the first time. With Diablo 4 Blizzard is now continuing the tradition.
Since we can expect gripping PvP battles with the fourth part of the hellish Hack’n’Slay, not a few Diablo lovers were unsure: What about my hardcore character when I’m in a player-versus-player battle die? Blizzard’s Community Director Adam Fletcher now has the answer.
“Permadeath”: Even in PvP battles, Diablo 4 is not taken into account
When asked about the consequences that a hardcore Diablo 4 character would have to face if they accidentally stumbled into one of the Fields of Hatred and died, Fletcher responded with just one word: “Permadeath.” and irrevocable death.

This means you can say goodbye to your hardened hell hero should he die in battle with another player. Accordingly, special caution should be exercised if you roam the vast open world of Diablo 4 and approach one of the PvP battlefields. So-called Shards of Hatred can be collected here by killing monsters, but also players, and special dealers are also waiting for you to pay them a visit.
However, there is another form of reward for particularly adventurous players: If you achieve ten kills in PvP mode, you will earn the “Fearless Combatant” achievement. However, if you are not interested in it, you will not measure anything if you avoid the PvP areas with your HC hero.
It’s not long now, the long-awaited next part is supposed to be officially in the starting blocks as early as June 6th. Until then, however, Blizzard will open the gates of hell again, because it was quite a surprise final server stress test for Diablo 4 announced in May, which anyone interested can participate in. In addition, Blizzard recently revealed which difficult challenge you to the end of Diablo 4 should expect.
