Whether pure coincidence or conscious calculation: For Dying Light 2 is there a new one now big update, which makes the zombie action game even more brutal. Matching the just released competitor Dead Island 2.
The so-called Gut feeling update primarily brings improvements for close combat in Dying Light 2, whose degree of violence has been increased a whole lot both playfully and visually. In addition, the patch delivers a transmog system and a new pilgrim outpost with an old acquaintance.
Dying Light 2: More melee dismemberments
Much more brutal is to be taken literally, as the developers explain in the patch notes on Steam. From now on there is more dismemberment in Dying Light 2, since each limb can now be “cut in three places”. But that’s not all, because there are also new damage visualizations, such as e.g. B. visible bones and ribs, you can tear out individual pieces of flesh or even their entrails from enemies, new blood effects and much more.
At the same time, the ragdoll physics have also been adjusted and the hit feedback revised. Overall, the melee in Dying Light 2 should feel a whole lot more powerful and brutal. You can already get a first glimpse of these improvements in the trailer:
In addition to the revised combat system, the gut feeling update also offers a Transmog-System. So you can now visually adjust the armor you wear without losing the respective values. In addition, Dying Light 2 now has weapon blueprints that you can use to craft your own weapons from master crafters. The affixes are randomly assigned.
The new pilgrim outpost
Last but not least, the gut feeling update brings the new one Pilgrim Outpost in the game. There, Spike, known from the first part, is waiting for you, who has fresh bounties and community tasks for you. If you do this, you will receive Pilgrim Tokens that you can exchange for special equipment and outfits.
In addition to the major innovations, the patch also contains some bug fixes and minor improvements. Of course, all of this also serves to prepare for the second big one Story DLC to be released later this year for Dying Light 2.
By the way, if you’ve already beat Techland’s zombie game, there’s currently a new alternative. You can find out how well this is doing in our Dead Island 2 review.
