Although Hogwarts Legacy is a game that contains several RPG elements, it is not a full blown Role Playing game. At one point, multiple RPG features were planned for the game. For example, dataminers discovered a hidden morality and reputation system in game files.
YouTuber GrandTheftDiamonds recently posted a video showing some of the game’s content being ripped from the files. One of them is the morality and reputation system. In this system, players would be awarded or deducted house points based on certain actions, such as using dark magic in the game.
However, the developers eventually decided to allow players to use dark magic in the game without penalty. Using those spells has no effect on the game’s story.
Even a wizarding police system was in the works. In this system, investigators could be called to a crime scene if the player commits an act such as murder. If caught, the player could be “reprimanded” in some way. There was even an option for a Game Over screen to appear if the player committed too many crimes. However, this idea was rejected. This may be due to time constraints or a desire to give players more freedom to play with all spells and abilities without fear of repercussions.
