S1mple will not be able to showcase his skills in front of a live audience at the BLAST Paris Major, as he and Natus Vincere were eliminated from the tournament after losing to FaZe Clan.
Karrigan and his crew faced Team NAVI in the Legends Stage bracket, which basically meant that only one of the two CS:GO Legends teams could advance to the playoffs. In the end, it was s1mple and NAVI who tasted bitter defeat after today’s 2:1 loss to FaZe.
The match itself could not have been more balanced, with many players calling it a grand final on social media after the end. It was a spectacle that really deserves such a label. First, NAVI won the Overpass map, which was chosen by FaZe, but the following Mirage map was dominated again by FaZe. The two teams then tossed it around on the Anubis map, which required two overtimes to finish, with FaZe eventually winning by a score of 22-19.
NAVI’s failure on the Legends Stage of the Paris Major will mark the first time in six years that the organization has failed to advance to the Valve-sponsored playoffs. The last time NAVI failed to qualify for the deciding stage of a CS:GO Major was during the PGL Kraków Major in 2017.
With this win, FaZe join five other teams that have already qualified for the playoffs, while two more will advance on May 16.
