Netflix revealed the new SpongeBob SquarePants-themed movie titled Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie.
Sandy Cheeks (Carolyn Lawrence) will be in the spotlight as the character will be the lead in the upcoming film Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie. Netflix revealed the first look at the film this morning, which shows the titular squirrel surfing with one of her best friends, SpongeBob (Tom Kenny).

Sandy has always been a minor character in all media related to the cute cartoon character who lives in a pineapple under the sea, but this will be the first time she has grabbed her lasso and taken the lead in a story of her own.
The project is part of a deal that Netflix and Nickelodeon closed years before Paramount+ went into development, which is why the film will be released on this platform, even if the rights to the character and the distribution of the main program belong to Paramount.
The film is also intended to be the first of three feature films centered on Bikini Bottom’s supporting characters, in an effort to breathe new life into a cartoon icon that has entertained children for more than two decades. Added to the longevity of the brand, SpongeBob Squarepants have managed to keep most of their lead voice cast intact throughout their career, establishing a strong legacy.
