Revealed this Thursday (18) in a beautiful trailer, Mortal Kombat 1 will reimagine the franchise through origin stories. Striking characters return to a new combat scene, bringing all the violence and brutality embodied in recent years by NetherRealm Studios.
The cinematic video shows how the events that occurred in Mortal Kombat 11 started a new chronological chain. From the point of view of Liu Kang, now the Guardian of Time, an era of relative peace begins, although old rivalries and tensions are on the surface.

Shang Tsung

Shang Tsung had a jaw-dropping appearance and emerged from an Outworld portal, now looking quite rejuvenated. His participation in the plot has not yet been revealed, but everything indicates that he will be one of the great villains of the title.
Liu Kang

After defeating Kronika in Mortal Kombat 11, Liu Kang took over as the Guardian of Time and was promoted to the rank of a deity. As with Raiden on other occasions, he will be responsible for mediating conflicts between kingdoms, participating in the fight when necessary.
Raiden

The God of Thunder and protector of the Earth realm, Raiden, is also confirmed in the game. In the trailer, he appears in a peaceful humanity condition, but remains with refined instincts. The franchise’s iconic character knows there’s something wrong somewhere between the realms.
Kung Lao

Kung Lao is expected to be one of the protagonists of Mortal Kombat 1. Recurrently mentioned in the franchise, he was a former combatant of the Terran Realm and legendary participant in the first tournament on his home planet. In the original stories, the fighter defeated Shang Tsung and won the competition.
Kitana

Kitana, the princess of Edenia and adopted daughter of Shao Kahn, appears in the trailer being applauded by the population in Outworld. With tense looks, the royal should have her rivalry with Mileena expanded in the franchise’s next title.

The cannibal Mileena appears in the trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 with a completely different look, compared to that of Mortal Kombat 11. In the images, she is sitting in a real vehicle next to Kitana and draws attention to her look of hatred and resentment.
Sub-Zero

Sub-Zero, leader of the Lin Kuei clan, appears again in a fight (or friendship) scene against his archrival Scorpion. As Mortal Kombat 1 will be a narrative reboot of the franchise, the ninja can be represented by Bi-Han, grandson of the original warrior and introduced in 1992 in the games.
Scorpion

One of the fan favorites, Scorpion, the legendary ninja of the Shirai-Ryu clan, is confirmed in the new game from NetherRealm Studios. However, so far, it is not possible to speculate whether the identity of Hanzo Hasashi will play a key role in Mortal Kombat 1.
