It’s not the first time Jeff Grubb has spoken out about the PlayStation Showcase. In February, he claimed that Sony was saving “the good stuff” for a big showcase in the summer. This showcase would herald a kind of ‘second phase’ for the PlayStation 5.
Earlier this month, Grubb made yet another claim about the date of the showcase. On Twitter, he shared a photo with dates from several events, some of which have not yet been officially confirmed, including the PlayStation Showcase. According to the journalist, the showcase will take place even before Summer Game Fest, which takes place on June 8.
Grubb now announces that the PlayStation Showcase will take place in May. “Maybe early June.” To be on the safe side, he sticks with “before Summer Game Fest.” Sony has not yet responded to the rumors. So for now it remains to be seen.
What can we expect at the PlayStation Showcase?
According to another insider, Nick Baker, Mortal Kombat 12 will be announced at the next PlayStation Showcase. Insider Jez Corden hints in a tweet that the game will be revealed next month, again pointing to a PlayStation Showcase taking place next month. It is also likely that we will get more information about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This game does not yet have a specific release date this year, but according to insider Jason Schreier, the game will appear in September.
