Redfall is the next big game from Dishonored and Prey creator Arkane Austin. The game is nearing its scheduled May 2nd launch date, and with just weeks to go, the developer has released new details about the shooter’s performance on console.
Via Twitter, Arkane confirmed that Redfall will only launch with a so-called quality mode on Xbox Series X/S. This means that the game is locked to 30 frames per second on both consoles, in 4K resolution on the Xbox Series X and 1440p on the Xbox Series S.
A performance mode that raises the frame rate up to 60 is also planned. Admittedly, this will only come to the consoles sometime after launch, and exactly when has not yet been determined.

Fans have not been particularly happy with the news. In social media, Arkane has had to endure a lot of pepper, with hundreds of comments from disappointed players.
Redfall has previously received criticism for the requirement for an Internet connection, even when playing alone. The developer has admittedly said that they are working on a solution that will offer offline gaming for those who wish it.
Last month, Arkane Austin CEO Harvey Smith also revealed that Redfall was originally going to come to PlayStation 5. However, that version was shelved when Microsoft acquired Bethesda in 2020, and the Xbox team put its foot down.
Alongside the Xbox Series X/S, Redfall is also coming to PC, and will also be available to Game Pass subscribers on May 2nd.
