It’s unbelievable that such a huge brand, as the Call of Duty war shooter video game series is without debate, has not yet received its proper tabletop adaptation. After all, this year she will celebrate her 30th birthday and she has dozens of titles.
A cursory search of BoardGameGeek reveals that the brand only got its Monopoly variant, its Risk variant and a small card game based on Black Ops, which obviously didn’t make a big dent in the world (at the same time, a real-time card game was in development, but it didn’t see production). .

But now it’s starting to look like better times. The Arcane Wonders company, responsible for Mage Wars and Furnace, for example, announced Call of Duty: The Board Game, about which we know very little at the moment.
The game will be competitive for 2 to 4 players who will meet on some of the iconic maps of the series such as Shoot House and Standoff, while playing as equally iconic characters such as Ghost Riley or Captain Price. In this game, all players plan at once, and from the first description we can deduce that we will be faced with such choices as giving priority to precise aiming, or emptying the magazine, and there will be an opportunity to throw a grenade through the window into the building and thus kill the opponent, or at least drive them away.
At the same time, it looks like death isn’t final here, as you’ll immediately return to the map again in at least one mode, which is the quest to capture the flag. Behind the game is the duo of authors Bryan and Benjamin Pope, who together created the game Mage Wars Arena.
We should learn more details about the game itself in the coming weeks, but we already know one very important thing that might surprise some – Call of Duty: The Board Game will be raising money for its creation on Kickstarter. Of course, every game does it today, but one would think that a brand with such astronomical revenues wouldn’t need a few (tens) of millions on the board.
However, Studio Arcane Wonders prefers to explain the whole situation directly. The fact is that it is simply a licensed product developed by said studio, not the licensee, Activision. And Arcane doesn’t have nearly as much resources as Activision. After all, there are a huge number of tabletop adaptations of video games, and the vast majority of them head to crowdfunding platforms for this very reason.
We are already learning that the lowest level of support on Kickstarter will be priced at around $100, i.e. over 2,000 crowns, and it will be a collector’s edition. It will have improved components compared to the basic edition, which will go to stores later.
The collector’s edition will be designed for up to four players, while the basic edition will only be for two, but the possibility of combining boxes will not be missing. Of course, expansions are expected for such a game, which will bring new characters, maps, weapons and more. And the interesting thing is that the figures will already be pre-painted.
The Kickstarter campaign for Call of Duty: The Board Game will start in the second half of this summer.
