Sony has announced that the PlayStation Video app will end support on compatible blu-ray players and Smart TVs starting in July 16th. With this, platform users will only be able to access it through their consoles.
In a statement (via PSU), SIE clarified its decision to disable the service on select hardware. In addition, the manufacturer thanked everyone who used the program to watch movies purchased through the PlayStation Store.
Thanks for using the PlayStation Video app on your Blu-ray player or smart TV.
As of 7/16/2023, PlayStation Video will no longer be compatible with blu-ray equipment or smart TVs, and you will no longer be able to access PS Video content through these devices. However, you can continue to access content on your PS5 or PS4 console.
