Only a few more days, then after more than three and a half years Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. If you didn’t just play the predecessor recently, you may be asking yourself: What actually happened there?
After all, it’s November 2019 and so is it Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order some time ago and the Story about the Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis not necessarily in your head. So that you don’t have to dive into the story of Jedi Survivor completely unprepared, we summarize the most important points for you.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – Order 66 and the aftermath
The story of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order takes place five years after the end of Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. Darth Sidious has long since activated Order 66, ordering the galaxy-wide annihilation of the Jedi – the Empire is on the rise. protagonist Cal Lasted was at that time still a young Padawan who managed to flee from the Imperial troops. He now works incognito on the planet Bracca as a scrap collector.
The Inquisitors are the antagonists of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and hunt down Jedis who are hiding.
One day, however, Kestis has to use his power on a mission to save his friend Prauf from falling. This action sets off a chain reaction that puts Bracca in the sights of two Inquisitors hunting fugitive Jedis. In a public questioning, Prauf opposes the Empire and is subsequently executed – which leads to Kel revealing himself as a Jedi, but of course immediately losing out to the Inquisitors. He can, however, thanks to the former Jedi Knight Cere Junda and the pilot Greez Dritus save at the last second.
Together, the three then go to the planet Bogano, because there Cal Kestis is supposed to meet someone who will help him with an important mission. That someone is him Droide BD-1, which belonged to Ceres’ previous master Eno Cordova. BD-1 leads Kestis to a vault that holds a secret: a holocron inscribed with the names of Force-sensitive children. Cere believes that these children can be used to revive the fallen Jedi order, but of course it’s not quite that simple.
Follow the path of Cordova
While Kestis enjoys BD-1’s trust, he can’t easily get hold of the holocron. Instead, he has to follow Cordova’s instructions beforehand and goes to the planet Zeffo, the hometown of an ancient people of the same name, who in turn once designed the vault on Bogano. Arriving on Zeffo, Kestis has to deal with Imperial troops again, but ends up in a temple, which in turn puts him on the trail to Kashyyyk. A raging battle rages on the jungle-like planet between the local Wookies and the Empire – and Kestis finds herself in the thick of it shortly afterwards.
BD-1 is Cal Kesti’s faithful companion – and a real help in the fight against the Empire.
There the young Padawan meets for the first time Saw Gerrerawho tells him that the Wookie leader Tarfful was captured. Since Tarfful is crucial to Cordova’s mission, Kestis decides to help Saw and free the Wookies. However, Tarfful is not among the prisoners as expected and at the same time Cere informs those involved that the Empire has located another chamber on Zeffo.
Kestis and his crew then travel back to Zeffo and want to find the chamber before the enemies do. On the planet, a battle ensues between Kestis and the Second Sister of the Inquisition, in which she poses as a Trilla Suduri revealed – a former student of Cere. The Jedi Knight, Trilla says, betrayed her hiding place under torture, thereby leading Trilla straight into the hands of the Inquisitors.
Not that impressed by the story, at least for the moment, Kestis flees from Trilla and continues to search for the second chamber, which he subsequently finds. A new intel from Cordova tells him that he needs a mysterious artifact called Astrium to open the chamber on Bogano. And so begins the next hunt in the galaxy.
Forward and backward: Kashyyyk, Dathomir and Ilum
However, before Kestis can go back to Kashyyyk to finally talk to Tarfful, a bounty hunter intercepts him and takes him to the gladiator arena of Sorco Tormo, the leader of a criminal syndicate called Haxion Brood. They don’t really have a problem with Kestis, but since Greez Dritus hasn’t paid off his betting debt, Kestis has to compete in the arena. He can hold out there long enough before the crew rescues him, with Tormo threatening that he will pursue Greez and Kestis for the rest of his life.
That’s secondary, though, because back on Kashyyyk, the young Jedi is finally allowed to talk to Tarfful – who directs him straight to the top of a tree. In a recording of Cordovan, Kestis learns that the Astrium artifact is in a tomb on Dathomir. The new goal is set, but first the Ninth Sister on Kashyyyk must be defeated.
The fight against the Ninth Sister is one of the great tests for young Kestis.
Finally, Kestis arrives Dathomir on the one hand the night nurse Get itwho is not at all on good terms with the Jedi, and on the other hand with the former Jedi Taron Malicos. Malicos has now dedicated himself to the dark side of power and is trying to convince Kestis of himself and his views. Of course, he refuses to cooperate and shortly afterwards both are attacked by Merrin. Forced to flee again, the team now goes to Ilum, because there Kestis finally wants to assemble his own lightsaber in order to then travel to Dathomir again. Back on the unholy planet, Kestis and Merrin defeat Malicos and take the Astrium, allowing them to open the Vault on Bogano.
The Finale: A Surprising Appearance
On Bogano, Kestis is finally allowed to take the holocron with the names, but is surprised by Trilla. She steals the holocron and flees, while Cere resumes her role as a Jedi Knight and promptly declares Kestis a Jedi Knight. She also knows where Trilla went with the holocron: Fortress Inquisitorius.
In the fortress there is a final confrontation with Trilla, which Kestis wins and can bring the holocron into his possession. When Cere begs Trilla for forgiveness, a powerful performance ensues. None other than Darth Vader himself bursts into the party, takes down Trilla and is about to kill Kestis. Given Vader’s tremendous strength, there’s only one thing to do: grab your feet and flee.
In the end, Kestis is unceremoniously named a Jedi Knight by Cere – even if that only helps him to a limited extent in the final battle.
Thanks to Merrin’s help, both Kestis and Cere manage to do this and the crew is able to escape from the fortress. Meanwhile, Kestis finds the holocron to be a problem: the children mentioned there would only be in more danger if they became Jedi, whereupon he finally destroys the data medium. His last words are: “And where now?”
This question clears from the 28. April Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on the PC, der PlayStation 5 und Xbox Series X | S. However, five years passed between the end of Fallen Order and the beginning of Survivor, during which Kestis has meanwhile become a reasonably experienced Jedi Knight.
