FrozenbyteGames has officially unveiled the next game in the great Trine series. The game will be called Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy, with a planned launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch sometime this summer.

THQ Nordic
In a press release, the developer promises an adventure in two and a half dimensions, which will be more action-packed than previous Trine games. Here you can play either alone or in groups of up to four – online or locally – with varying degrees of difficulty depending on how many are involved.
The three player characters – Amadeus the Wizard, Zoya the Thief and Pontius the Knight – are also equipped with completely new properties. These should come in handy in both battle sequences and puzzle solving.
New to the series is something Frozenbyte calls a skill-based system for missions. There will also be tactical boss battles with several stages for players to hone in on.
Critically acclaimed series
Through four games, the Trine series has become very well liked here at the mill. All have received good marks in our reviews, and the previous feature – Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince from 2019 – showed that the formula is still alive and well.
– After four titles and a full ten years of Trine games, it’s fun to see that there are still exciting challenges to solve with the now three well-known heroes. It was simply fun to solve the puzzles Frozenbyte has laid out for us, and switching between the thief, the warrior and the sorcerer works very well when the situation calls for it. In the same way, the experience is tailored for whether you are alone or with others, and the challenges adapt accordingly, wrote Andreas Bjørnbekk.
