Sony will hold another State of Play presentation this week, specifically on Thursday 13 April at 23:00. The focus of the broadcast will be Final Fantasy XVI.
On Twitter, Sony writes that viewers can expect more than 20 minutes of gameplay from the upcoming role-playing game. Among other things, there will be clips from the game’s action-focused combat system and the massive Eikon fighters you can take into battle.
The article continues below the Twitter message.
Final Fantasy XVI takes players to a war-torn world called Valisthea. Here we get to follow protagonist Clive Rosfield, a so-called Dominant who has the ability to summon Eikons into battle.
Square Enix has previously said that Final Fantasy XVI will not take place in an open world, but rather smaller areas that players move through. The choice to go for more action-packed matches rather than a turn-based scheme was to appeal to younger players.
The game is currently only confirmed for PlayStation 5, with a release date of June 22. Game director Naoki Yoshida has admittedly also expressed a desire to bring Final Fantasy XVI to PC, but that work will then only begin after the console version is out.
