The expected has come true and there is no twelve in the name of the continuation of the famous fighting series Mortal Kombat, because the reboot of the saga is coming. Welcome to Mortal Kombat 1.
We can look forward to a new story line in which we will meet familiar characters, but in new and surprising contexts. The creators have confirmed that Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage and others will return. Which at first glance sounds almost exactly like the 1993 Mortal Kombat II ensemble.
The stylish trailer released by the creators of the new product, which you can watch above, does not show any footage directly from the game, but the rendered video at least certainly suggests that the established philosophy of the series, which, by the way, in the early nineties in the US Senate called for restricting children’s access to game will remain unchanged. In other words, the new Mortal Kombat will once again be properly brutal, drenching you in a rain of organs, severed heads and crushed skulls.
However, the gameplay as such should undergo changes and improvements – the developers promise a new combat system, fresh game modes and improved sets of movements of individual fighters. The creators will probably share more details before the release, at the moment we can only speculate what exactly to imagine under it.
We won’t have to wait long for Mortal Kombat 1, the game is released on September 19 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch. It will set you back $70, and early birders can pre-order now, which will also ensure access to the console beta that will take place in August. Owners of the premium edition for $110 will then have the option of an earlier start and will be able to play from September 14.
