Northgard: The Unknown Land is a successful adaptation of the well-known strategy video game, which cleverly transfers the Viking conquest to the table with selected mechanics and atmosphere. If you don’t believe it, maybe our review by Jakub Špiřík will convince you. Thanks to the publisher TLAMA games, domestic Vikings can also enjoy the game in the Czech translation. Soon it will also apply to a pair of expansions.
The first expansion will be called Náčelníci in Czech, and the news is also faithful to this name. The box will bring a new module that aims to increase the asymmetry of individual clans and adds additional options. He intends to achieve this goal with the help of a new chief figure for each of the clans. She has a strength of 2 and special abilities that are unique to each of the clans. You can use the Chieftain as a regular unit, but he also comes into play with his own card that offers additional upgrades and stronger actions for clans.
Together with this, modular boards of help and clans will also arrive, which will make your game clearer with their connection. You can also look forward to a Kaiji figure that replaces the original token from the base. The recommended price tag for Chiefs is 649 crowns, and you can save as usual by pre-ordering. The release is expected sometime in June.

The release in June and recommended price of 649 crowns also applies to the second Wilderness expansion. This adds more enemies to the monster module. These are, for example, the powerful giant Jötun, the destruction-seeking Eldthurs or Hvedrunk – the leader of an ancient clan who yearns for Ragnarök. You can add the vast majority of these monsters to those from the base game, but for the rest you’ll need another novelty.
This is another game module in the form of wilderness boards. In total, you will find 11 of these boards in the package, which you can add to the base and thereby expand the possibilities of the map. On these boards you will find several interesting things, such as completely impassable borders (in the mountain range), a lake that produces two meals, a geyser with the possibility of recruiting a unit, ruins with raw materials and victory points, a wyvern’s nest or a swamp on which you must not stop.
Details of the content, components and systems of both expansions for Northgard: The Unknown Lands can be found in the rules available on their cards (Wildness/Chiefs).
