We all know The Waking Dead, the famous television series from AMC which has since offered variants, such as Fear the Walking Dead. Precisely, this last spin-of is currently in the news for its last season, where the character of Morgan is always present. And his interpreter has something to say about it.
Always up, always the banana
If Rick and his gang are obviously at the center of The Walking Dead series, Fear the Walking Dead takes the side of following the adventures of other protagonists, who sometimes have nothing to do with it. Nevertheless, the character of Morgan Jones, embodied by Lennie James, has been able to secure a long and solid career since he has been present since season 1 of The Walking Dead, before switching to the spin-off since its fourth season.
For the eighth season of Fear the Walking Dad, Morgan Jones is still there and he even holds a very important place. The actor has been playing this same role for thirteen years, who ultimately never let go! A boon in itself, but also a huge surprise. More than 100 episodes on the clock, it’s a rhythm he absolutely did not expect.
“A little more and it turns into a stool”
It was during an interview with Cinemablend that Lennie James returned to his role as Morgan Jones and above all, to his longevity. The actor finds it difficult to believe it himself.
Honestly ? It’s completely insane. It was impossible to imagine. You couldn’t anticipate it. If someone had told me on the first day… What you have to understand is that when I did the first episode, they had promised me just that. That’s all I signed. I didn’t sign for “I’ll be back in two seasons”. It was “we’re going to do this episode and we can’t promise you anything else.” So I went on with my life.
(…) So if you had told me at the time that Morgan would end up where he is now, I would have said that you are crazy. So I constantly pinch myself, reminding myself how lucky I am, but also not forgetting how insane Morgan’s journey has been in my life.
Fear the Walking Dead is currently delivering its eighth and final season, which also centers on Morgan’s daughter. It remains to be seen if AMC still reserves a place for the character, perhaps in yet another spin-off…
