The organization of the Grand Prix of Imola maintained that the race would still take place this weekend, despite the heavy rain showers in the region of Emilia-Romagna. On Wednesday, the decision was made to cancel the race, because it would not be safe for the teams, drivers and spectators. In addition, attention could be better focused on rescue work in the area.
As a result, Formula 1 fans have to do without a Grand Prix this weekend. But to entertain viewers a bit, a special sim race is being organized by Verstappen.com and Team Redline – the sim race team that Max Verstappen competes for. This was announced via Twitter.
Which drivers are participating in the sim race?
The sim race will start at 15:30 Dutch time, which you can probably follow via Team Redline’s Twitch channel. The race will be held on an Italian circuit, which will most likely be the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari. The GP of Imola would be held there this weekend.
It is not yet known which drivers will participate in the race. Team Redline will announce this shortly. Although Verstappen himself has not officially confirmed his participation, it seems plausible that the world champion will participate.
