From Fan Mode to Official Blizzard Support: World of Warcraft Classic will have an official one later this year Hardcore-Modus receive. The developers confirmed this on Twitter over the weekend.
So far, players have used a fan addon to play World of Warcraft in hardcore mode on the traditional servers. However, with official support from Blizzard, there will probably be special realms for World of Warcraft Classic starting this summer, where players can log in and indulge in the allure of hardcore. However, there is currently no exact date.
World of Warcraft Classic: Hardcore-Server mit Duell-Funktion
Anyone who wants to play World of Warcraft Classic in hardcore mode can expect a real challenge: the goal is to reach the maximum level of 60, without dying – whether during a quest, in an instance or in a PvP battle. If the life points do run out, then as a player you are required to delete your character and start over. The whole thing is currently being monitored by a modification developed by fans, which also has its own leaderboards and even provides achievements.

Blizzard’s official hardcore servers will be based on this system, as reported by wowhead’s English-speaking colleagues. Accordingly, you will only have one life on these with your character in World of Warcraft Classic. If you die, your character will not be deleted immediately, but you can still roam the world as a ghost and manage your guild, if there is one. Logically, however, you are not allowed to actively participate in the game.
Also new is a command called /makgora, with which you challenge another player to a duel to the death. Unlike the usual duel, where the life energy can only drop to the minimum of 1, the fight here ends fatally for a player. The name comes from the orcish tradition, the mak’gora, which describes an honorable duel between two warriors – with fatal outcome for one of the participants.
Separate from normal WoW Classic
According to Blizzard, they don’t want to interfere too much with the hardcore World of Warcraft Classic community, they just want to provide an official environment for this style of play. The hardcore servers will therefore also be completely new and will be available apart from the conventional classic servers. It remains to be seen when a release can be expected.
On the other hand, if you can’t do anything with classic and hardcore, you can in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight are currently diving into the depths of update 10.1. Among other things, a new raid awaits you there, as well as a continuation of the story of the current expansion of the MMO.
