Xbox has announced today through its official blog that throughout this month its first games will be arriving at GeForce Now, Nvidia’s cloud streaming service. This is the result of an agreement announced in February whereby Microsoft commits to bring its games to the cloud gaming platform for the next 10 years.
The first to arrive is Gears 5, which can already be enjoyed on PC through GeForce Now. This service has three memberships, one of them free; With this we can access our games purchased on Steam or the Epic Games Store using the cloud to run them on devices with fewer resources, be they other computers, compatible televisions or iOS and Android mobiles.
Will more games be coming from Xbox, Bethesda and… Activision?
Coming soon, on May 25, new Xbox games will be added to the GeForce Now catalog: Deathloop, Grounded y Repentance They are the three confirmed so far, although from Microsoft they affirm that they are going to continue working on bringing even more games, both from Xbox and from Bethesda. Also Activision Blizzard if the purchase ends up closing, something that in this article they take for granted.
Todays announcement marks a big milestone in our promise to bring more games to more people, however they choose to play. https://t.co/ouCeilqr5H— Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) May 18, 2023
Precisely, the purchase of Activision Blizzard was the driving force behind this and other agreements that Microsoft signed with cloud gaming companies: the regulatory agencies that have to give the green light feared that the number of sagas that Xbox could get with the agreement would gave too much of an advantage in this growing sector, so they wanted to show that they were open to taking them to other platforms. That has helped them to convince the European Commission, but not the United Kingdom.
“Today’s announcement marks a huge milestone in our promise to bring more games to more people, however they choose to play,” Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, said in a tweet posted today.
