Diablo IV is going to be a massive game without a doubt. Activision Blizzard promises a dense endgame and long-term support that will cover the game with new content every three months. Surprisingly, it will not be endless and will have something like a real end.
Although the difficulty will scale beyond the final hundred levels, there will be a cap capped by an ultimate boss designed to test the mettle of the best of the best.
“Diablo IV is not designed for endless play. The content that the game will offer after level 100 will be used to test how far your build can go. At some indeterminate point when you reach maximum gear power, you’ll be able to customize your character to extract every last ounce of potential out of it. Only then will you be able to face the final boss, which will be the final test of the nightmare version of the dungeons,” revealed lead designer Joe Piepiora in an interview with GamesRadar+.
And that it will be a hellish final exam in the truest sense of the word. Supposedly it will take a few tries before you even get to the point where you have even a small chance of beating the best of the best. We’ll see if that’s the case in reality. Players generally tend to beat these ultimate trials very quickly after release.

“The ultimate boss is set up to be exceptionally difficult to defeat. You will need to fully understand your playable class, understand your build, have maximum stats, in short, the best equipment and a perfect knowledge of the fight as such. And then, maybe, you will have a chance to win,” describes Piepiora’s extreme challenge.
And the motivation to overcome this final hurdle? It won’t be loot, because at that point you already have the most powerful equipment that Diablo IV has to offer. “It’s about aspiration. It’s about saying to yourself, ‘This is the culmination of my effort.’ You’ll get cosmetic items and other rewards for winning, but at that point it won’t be about gear anymore,” explains Diablo IV’s lead designer.
The sequel to the legendary action RPG will be released on June 6 on PC and both generations of Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Owners of Deluxe editions will get access to Diablo IV a few days earlier, already on June 2nd.
