Since Friday, players from all over the world have been roaming the world of as Link Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and send the dumb warrior over hill and dale.
However, as in its predecessor – and much of the other games in the series – it is once again only Link that players can slip into. Because despite a major role in the story of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the titular one remains Princess Zelda Fans banned as a playable character. But that could change in future titles.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Priority is given to gameplay
Before the release, many fans had clung to the hope of being able to playfully experience the world of Hyrule in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom through Zelda’s eyes. A hope that remained unfulfilled. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Tears of the Kingdom-Produzent Eiji Aonuma now about the possible future of the princess:
“We feel that the gameplay idea is the highest priority. If it turns out that the specific gameplay we’re trying to accomplish works best when Zelda fills that role, that’s a direction we could potentially take. But since we don’t yet know what the next gameplay experience will be, we can’t say what the next steps are for Zelda either.”
The industry veteran doesn’t want to rule out the possibility, but he doesn’t make any promises either, and until the next big entry in the Zelda series appears, it’s likely to happen again bring years into the country – after all, Nintendo has to surpass the physics gimmicks first, with which players are currently expressing their creativity in Tears of the Kingdom and one creation crazier than the other.
Zelda is already playable in these titles
